Mounting

Photographic mounting is often the difference between a print and a finished artwork.
Weldon Color Lab offers an industry-leading suite of archival mounting solutions, including a back mounting, wall-ready hanging cleats, and frameless acrylic face mounting to a range of museum-grade acrylics.
All of our mounting work is fabricated in-house using our oversized 80-inch Seal mounting laminator. For projects requiring custom dimensions, unconventional substrates, or exhibition-specific solutions, we work directly with clients to develop novel solutions.

ACM

Aluminum Composite Material

Our house alternative to Dibond, fabricated by Kömmerling. Nearly identical in performance and specification at a reduced cost. Recommended for silver gelatin fiber, inkjet, and Type C prints, with the exception of glossy surfaces. Available up to 60×120”.

Dibond®

The archival standard for photographic mounting. A composite of two aluminum sheets bonded to a polyethylene core, Dibond is rigid, lightweight, and dimensionally stable. Recommended for silver gelatin fiber, inkjet, and Type C prints, with the exception of glossy surfaces. Available up to 60×120”.

Aluminum

A more substantial and luxurious option. We mount to 1/16" and 1/8" aluminum sheets, which can be polished to a mirrored finish and produce a beautiful exposed edge. Suitable for any print, but solely recommended for glossy. Available up to 72×144”.

Sintra®

A lightweight, expanded PVC board, perfect for most photographic mounting. Surprising in its archival stability, Sintra is best for smaller prints, but can be used for larger pieces when appropriately back-braced. Available in black and white up to 60×120” in 1/8” and 1/4”.

Museum Board

The original mounting material, made of acid-free cotton. One of our favorite options for back mounting. We use Legion Paper’s Rising museum board in warm white. Available in 4-ply up to 40x60” and 8-ply, up to 48x72”.

Face mounting acrylics

TruLife Acrylic®

A premium choice for acrylic face mounting. TruLife is an optically pure, UV-filtering acrylic with excellent reflection control. Museum-grade, TruLife is the face mounting-specific variant of Tru Vue’s Optium. The highest standard for exhibition quality work.

Conservation Clear® Acrylic

A museum-grade UV-filtering acrylic for face mounting produced by Tru Vue. Optically clear with excellent light transmission and archival UV protection. The standard choice for gallery and collection face mounts where reflection is not a primary concern.

Conservation Clear® Reflection Control Acrylic

Conservation Clear UV with an additional non-glare matte finish. One of the most popular acrylics at Weldon (especially in sunny California), Conservation Clear Reflection Control “absorbs” the image unlike any other finish, resulting in a silky, uniform, and truly non-glare finish.

Standard Acrylic

A cost-effective option for acrylic face mounting and back mounting. Available in 1/8" and 1/4", up to 72 inches wide. Lacks much of the UV filtering and reflection control of museum-grade TruLife and Conservation Clear acrylics, but a practical and usually sufficient choice for achieving the acrylic face mounted look.

Lamination

Up to 60in, matte / glossy

A photo-quality protective lamination to protect your images from UV, dust, and fingerprints.

Cleats

How a mounted image meets the wall. We build and attach all hanging hardware in-house, offering aluminum and wood full liner systems, simple wood cleats, flush-mount Z-bars, and 4-wire hangers.

Canvas-wrapped stretcher bars

When we print to canvas, we build and stretch in-house using professional-grade stretcher bars. Tight, clean corners, and properly tensioned.

Crates

We professionally pack and ship around the world. Ask us about packaging.
