Chromogenic Printing

(Digital Type C)

Chromogenic printing is at the core of Weldon’s identity. A trailblazer in Cibachrome printing from the 1970s through the 2000s, Weldon now produces photographic prints on a suite of Fujifilm’s Type C papers, up to 50×120.” Each print is exposed by laser on an Océ Lightjet 430 with custom profiling and ICC calibration. The process produces vivid colors, brilliant whites, and an astonishing black point. Fuji's color photographic papers are the last remaining silver halide-based commercial photographic materials available. Maintaining light-sensitive photographic processes remains central to our work.

All final prints at 16×20” or larger come with a complementary 8×10” proof. Additional prints of individual images are billed at a 50% discount.

Fujiflex

Super Gloss (50in)

Our most popular material and the spiritual successor to Cibachrome (Ilfochrome). A 7mil polyester base with a nearly glass-like finish, Fujiflex is the sharpest, glossiest, most vibrant and dimensional material available for chromogenic printing. Our go-to choice for acrylic face mounting, fashion, and editorial; exceptional archival stability.

Maxima

50in, matte / glossy

Maxima is the backbone of Weldon's Type C workflow. Optimized for Lightjet laser exposure, Maxima delivers a minimum 10% wider color gamut than DP II, with increased shadow detail and deeper D-max. Developed by Fujifilm specifically for the fine art photographer and the gallery and museum market, the paper has exceptional archival stability.

Pearl

(50in, glossy)

Somewhere between metallic, pearlescent, and opalescent, Fuji Pearl is a hard to describe (and hard to forget) paper. Its characteristic shimmer comes from mica crystals embedded underneath the photo-sensitive emulsion, scattering and refracting light off its glossy surface. Like Fuji's other papers, Pearl has great image stability and rich D-max.

Crystal Archive DP II

(50in, glossy / lustre / matte)

An iconic and budget-friendly workhorse, available in three surfaces. DP II offers high D-max, vibrant color reproduction, and pure whites. Perfect for...anything.

Fujitrans

50in, transparency

A translucent-base chromogenic material for backlit and light box applications, Fujitrans is one of the best printed transparency products ever made. With a remarkably consistent D-max, color depth, and sharpness, Fujitrans has been a staple of backlit artworks since the discontinuation of Duratrans. Sadly discontinued by Fujifilm in 2025. Weldon has some of the last remaining stock and will produce on this material while supplies last.

Fuji Deep Matte

50in, super matte

A super-matte, lusterless surface with a warmth and subtlety unlike any other Type C paper. Deep Matte produces pure whites and accurate color on a vellum surface – closer in feel to a fine art pigment paper than a traditional photographic print.
